Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT30 55-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT30 55-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV
  • I generally don't write reviews but felt compelled after a couple annoying experiences within 2 weeks of purchase. 1 - The change in brightness, mentioned in other reviews, throughout viewing is incredibly frustrating - to the point where you start a discussion about it with whomever you might be watching with, and pointing it out throughout the course of the show / movie ("see, did you notice it just got darker"). 2 - Yesterday bright colorful horizontal pinstripes started flickering across the screen. I tried unplugging and replugging the TV and the HDMI cables, as well as watching a dvd to confirm it wasn't the cable box. Then switching channels and trying to adjust every option...to…
  • After having spent literally a year doing research on the "big boys" with 3D capacity, reading a half dozen reviews and blogs, I finally purchased the Panasonic 65" GT30. The money was serious for our family budget, so I wanted to make sure we were happy with the investment. I ticked off, one by one, the competitors for "in store" demos, literally looking at dozens of models.....then I made the leap...and haven't had the first regret after two weeks of viewing.I have some pretty serious, state of the art LCD/LED TV's in my home already (Sony, Panasonic, et al), with their eye popping bright colors, razor sharp pictures, etc....but this is much more a movie theater type…

  • I bought this last year and am now just getting around to the review. The screen quality is great, but I was told in a small room 720p is fine and you don't need 1080p. Salesman was right, so for the bigger room we went with the 1080.The hookup is easy to do if you are familiar with the different types of cords, svideo vs hdmi. I wasn't but I figured it out as the instructions were simple. I HIGHLY advised an HDMI cable if you are going to stream movies like Netflix as you won't get as good quality without it.The instructions don't cover Viera hook up to wireless too well..in other words I kept doing it over and over, only to discover by internet search that my wireless modem was way out of…
  • Although I have been working in the AV industry for many years I have been holding back - seen a lot of feature hype and hoopla go by but this is the first flat screen plasma I liked with a price that was reasonable. For a couple of years now I have been looking for an HDTV with wide viewing angels - worked well in dark or well lit room without too much reflection - rich accurate color reproduction - Works well with games or sports motion - works well with over the air/cable SD signals or SD DVD play back - ease of use - easy break in - Minimal chance of image retention - Multiple input/outputs - reasonable price. We have had our 42G25 now for several weeks and have been very pleased with our…

  • Looking for a tv can be a long and tedious process. You want to make the right choice. You pour over reviews and develop a list of pros and cons. Atleast I did. It is easy to get bogged down the nitty gritty. You can go on forums and read all the pros and cons written by well meaning people, if not a tad geeky. They may point out things that you would never catch in the 1000 years. Fluctuating black levels? Oh NO! But, don't let that scare you from taking the plunge. First off I worried about the shipping. My goodness, how are they going to shipped this delicate tv from Japan to the Midwest? I never bought anything this costly and this big. What do I do if it is damaged, yadda yadda yadda. Well…

Panasonic TC-L42U25 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV
  • The TV is beautiful! The picture is awesome and it was easy to set up. I had no problem connecting all our components. Very simple. I found it easier than it used to be connecting TV's to VCRs, DVDs, surround sound etc.I read prior reviews about the sound not being good. But we hooked it directly to a soundbar and have not used the sound on the TV, so I did not rate the sound. We also don't use video games so I did not rate that.Excellent buy and excellent price. I found it cheaper on Amazon than any other site or store and I looked for a month.
  • first 1080p tv. bought from bestbuy so as expected we paid about $80 more from what is the listed price here on amazon. out of the box, tv looks ok. i've seen lots of tv's with prettier bezel than this from other brands. but not really a big deal. looking at it from the sides, its obvious that it is abit thicker (maybe 3in) than those upscale lcds or led-lcd's(note an LED tv is just a LCD tv but with a different back lighting). still its fine for me, i was like "does a TV 2in thicker make our living room that much crowded?" well no. so overall i was pleased with the tv's aesthetics.this TV is heavy btw. i just use the tv stand provided. the tv stand doesnt swivel btw. and surprisingly…

  • I purchased this television for our bedroom, and we're quite happy with it. I highly recommend using a calibration DVD (I used Avia) to set the picture settings, as the ones from the factory are indeed crap! (like almost all modern TVs. Why is that?) The "standard" setting is way too low contrast / washed out, and the "vivid" setting has contrast so high that the shadow details are completely lost. I found that the "Game" setting tuned to [Contrast +90] [Brightness +57] and [Color +40] was about perfect, now that I have it calibrated the picture is even better than I anticipated.Pros:Incredible picture!Embedded Pandora & Netflix players work fineLots of HDMI…
  • Things I like:The picture/color are good. Like the 1080p for bluray. Menu screens are decent. Physical appearance is attractive. Seems fairly well made.Meh things:My unit has some serious light leaks around the top and bottom. I do notice it while watching the TV in dark scenes sometimes. It's annoying, but I'm living with it.Sound on this TV is typical of any flatscreen. Sound comes out of the bottom of the unit so it's a little muffled and not great. I've gotten used to this over time though. The specs on this TV say it's 1.7" without the stand. This simply isn't true! I'm not sure how they get away with this. They don't show you a profile picture of the TV, but the bottom actually protrudes…

  • I got this TV because it looked like the perfect fit for a price / performance ratio. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase, although there are a few things that Panasonic can improve on. I have seen and had lots of experience with the 2009 S1 model, as well as the 2009 G10. The 2010 S2 is better than the S1 but doesn't quite have the picture quality to match the G10. Its close though. So if you can find a G10 at the same price you may want to go with the G10. The reason I didn't go with the G10 is because Panasonic has had problems with some of their TV's losing a significant amount of their black levels in previous year's models. They said that they have addressed these issues in the 2010 model…
  • I received this TV from Amazon 2 days ago and so far I love it. I shopped around extensively, and it was by far the best value for a large plasma screen from a "name brand" manufacturer. The display is gorgeous. It creates a lush picture with dark blacks and vivid colors. I bought this to replace a 3-year-old 26" Panasonic LCD screen, and I am blown away by the improvement in picture quality. Now, I have to reprogram my DVR to ONLY record HD shows because they look so great; I never noticed that much of a difference between HD and standard-def with the old TV (which was probably only 720p while this new one is 1080p), but I can see a huge improvement with HD now! Overall, very…

Panasonic TC-P54S2 54-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
  • I've had a few Panasonic plasma's throughout the years and I still even have a Hitachi Director's Series plasma (which I have to say, blows every plasma on Amazon out of the water, but it's also $7,000).The Panasonic TC-P54S2 (the 54" display in the S2 line of plasmas) is a truly breathtaking television. The G25 line is more expensive and does offer a slightly richer and deeper black than the S2 line (among other, totally unnecessary features), but it's barely noticeable when the S2 plasma is broken-in and calibrated correctly. It's very important that you break-in and calibrate this display. (Check AVS Forums for the calibration slides, which should be run non-stop for 100 hours - then…
  • After repeated back-order of the new Panasonic 58" plasma, I "settled" for this TV.Although only slightly smaller, but MUCH less expensive it features a superb picture that has deep colors, true black, and very bright (if needed for a light room). As a retired broadcast exec. I'm fussy about my video, and this set is excellent in almost every way. Even the bezel and glass screen minimize glare. The speakers are only adequate, but with the mony I saved thru Amazon I'm just installing a surround system. The only problem is a faulty high voltage circuit emitting a hum or buzz when displaying bright images. This was evident by the third day, and getting worse as the set warmed up. A…
